We’re excited to announce the release of a new film for the If Not Us Then Who series from partnering organisation Indonesian Nature Film Society INFIS. ‘The warden of Jargarian Forest‘ is set in the Aru Archipelago, part of the Maluku territory. Aru consist of 187 islands which indigenous peoples have settled and lived on for centuries. Now these islands are facing pressure from expanding agribusiness and extraction. This film offers a unique picture of their struggles.

As the road to Paris and the UN Climate Change Conference gets closer Handcrafted Films are happy to see how the If Not Us Then Who project is progressing, after three international screenings and exhibitions in New York, Lima and across Indonesia, we are pleased to announce that several of the films from the series have received awards. ‘Our Fight’ was in the official selection for the Socially Relevant Film Festival in New York as well as The Online Film Festival; ‘Tacloban – after Super Typhoon Haiyan’ received the award of Excellence at the Canada International Film Festival and ‘Dayaks and Drones’ was a winner of a Platinum Award at the International Movie Award as well as official selection at the May Day Sustainability Short Film Festival.
